All kinds of learning at the Science Center

September is Homeschool Month at the Maryland Science Center. If you're a MD resident that homeschools, get on down there!

Digging for treasure - uh, I mean, bones
Chillin' in the dino prints

A wanna-be astronaut
The Wet Lab is always a big hit

It was our first time there, and we all had a lot of fun, and learned a few things, too. I think, though, the biggest learning experience was when it was time to leave and we got to watch a little boy have an almighty temper tantrum because he didn't want to leave. The kids were sort of stunned by it all, and Abi even commented on what a "naughty boy" he was being. It was then that, in His kindness, God gave a teaching opportunity. Being able to remind my children that without discipline that they would be no different, and that Jesus died for his sin, just as He died for theirs, also reminded me that all the anger bound up in that poor kid's heart is also in mine. I may handle it better or be a little more slick and subtle than screaming the place down, but that doesn't mean it's not there. And it's for this - his sin and mine - that Jesus went to the cross. Thanks be to God.

Was that little boy named Noah?

Surprisingly, no. Another boy in another family. Even my little 'temper machine' stood there with his mouth open...
